Why Doceian Doors?
The roots of Yigiter family can be traced in Tosya, a district of the city of Kastamonu in the Black Sea region of Turkey. During the Eastern Roman Empire this town was called Doceia (Greek: Δοκεία) and located in the crossroads of major trade routes. One can observe fifty shades of green; thus timber is historically the most important industry in Tosya. Located at the crossroads of several historic trade routes, commercial goods from various regions often traveled farther away passing through Tosya.
Starting from early 1970s, local woodworkers build the early examples of Shaker doors, the most popular type of interior doors in the U.S. market. With help of the existing culture of trade and trading middlemen long-distance trade networks were actually set up and made Tosya, the capital of interior doors.
